Subjects Covered
Each month we run classes on the first 4 weeks. If there is a 5th week we do not run a class. Please see further details of what subject is covered each week.
Week 1: CEM 11+ Vocabulary
Our CEM 11+ Vocabulary sessions are devoted to covering the following topics:
- Antonyms & Synonyms
- Word Meanings
- Associated Words
- Odd Word Out
Our goal is to help students understand various question formats and master the most effective techniques to use when answering questions. We understand that to do well in the CEM style of 11 Plus Exam students must display a firm understanding of vocabulary in action.
Week 2: CEM 11+ Mathematics
Our CEM 11+ Mathematics sessions are devoted to covering the following topics:
- Calculations
- Worded Maths Problems
- Data Handling
- Maths Comprehension
With CEM 11+ Mathematics we discuss key techniques which with give your child the best chance of 11 Plus success. We explain how to answer a wide range of calculations and methods to read and interpret Worded Maths and Data Handling problems effectively.
Week 3: CEM 11+ Reading
Our CEM 11+ Reading sessions are devoted to covering the following topics:
- Comprehension
- Missing Words (Cloze)
- Jumbled Sentences
- Missing Sentences
Our main focus with CEM 11+ Reading is to help develop contextual reading skills. Within the preparation materials for all reading sessions students will be provided with several reading activities to complete. To benefit fully from this session we strongly recommend that students have a printed copy of these with them during the session.
Week 4: CEM 11+ Non Verbal
Our CEM 11+ Non Verbal sessions are devoted to covering the following topics:
- Non Verbal Sequences
- Non Verbal Grids
- Non Verbal Analogies
- Other Non Verbal
Our CEM 11+ Non Verbal sessions are progressive and provide a proven and methodical system to breaking down and understanding picture based questions. We know that Non Verbal can be quite daunting for many students so we also discuss the most effective techniques to use.
